At our Fall Forum, we presented awards for Steward of the Year to two amazing women.
Merikay Smith was recognized for her leadership in LDS Earth Stewardship East projects such as cleaning up the Potomac River, educating the community about native plants, and extensive landscaping at the historic Pleasant View site in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Pat Thomas was honored for her work founding Backyard GardenShare, a program that gathers surplus garden produce to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to the hungriest families in our community.
Their work is impressive and inspires us all to find how we can individually be better earth stewards.
